Whatever your age and however well (or badly!) you play tennis, you will find a warm welcome at our club. There is no playing-in standard, so players who are new to the game, or a bit rusty after a few years' break, will still find suitable partners and opponents. For more experienced players, we will also try to introduce you to people of a similar standard to play with. Just ask the Tennis Manager to arrange this. And if you are interested in competitive play then see our Teams page.
One of the very special things about our Club is that you can turn up on any summer evening after 6pm or weekend afternoon after 2 pm and be more-or-less certain to be able to find people of a similar standard to play tennis with. You do not have to come with a partner or an opponent. The club has two courts with floodlights which can be booked for the winter evenings - the club is usually bustling with activity every weekend right through the year - we are a hardy lot!
Balls are supplied throughout the summer season, and available to buy at very reasonable prices from the pro-shop all year round. Contact TopSpin Tennis for details.
Well actually it does sometimes, but not as often as it does even quite close by, because of our location in the lee of Coton Hill. Even if it is damp, the artificial grass courts provide a non-slip surface.
Juniors have exactly the same rights of access to the courts as any other member. On Fridays through the summer months, there is a special junior evening when a coach will supervise junior play and make sure that young players find opponents and get to play organised games. 4-7s must be accompanied by a parent, but the over 8s can come alone and will be helped to join in and mix with other players. There is a singles mini-league for juniors who would like to join in, and top juniors can enter the adult mini league and are eligible for selection for the men's and ladies' teams too. We particularly encourage juniors to join one of our many coaching programmes to help them achieve their full potential in the game, and those that show real promise will be invited to join one of the club's junior development sessions
If you want competitive tennis then we have many teams competing with other clubs around the county, as well as veterans and various other formats at local and national level. Our top men's teams consistently do very well in the National Club League. In addition to the club teams, there are a variety of closed and open tournaments throughout the season, ranging from the frequent informal Sunday afternoon get together American doubles format to various Cups and the Club Championships. You can now obtain (and improve) a Rating via the LTA Club Rating Scheme. We also run an internal Singles Mini League, established to enable members to play singles regularly against players of a similar standard. The league runs throughout the year, with promotion and demotion every calendar month; there are around a dozen divisions so all abilities have something to play for.
From beginner through "I-used-to-play-years-ago" all the way up to advanced level, there is a coach to suit you. We also provide lots of Junior coaching feeding up to County level.
We have an excellent allocation of Wimbledon tickets every year; in the May 2009 draw we were allocated 63 pairs of Wimbledon tickets and over 50% of people who put their name in the draw were successful.
Included in your membership package for full members joining after 1st April 2009 is free membership at Hills Road Sports Centre. The Centre has indoor courts, a gym and many other sports facilities that may be of interest to CLTC members when they're not playing tennis at the Club!
